Director of Data Engineering
Hello, we’re ScreenCloud!
Founded in 2015 and with 10,000+ customers around the globe, ScreenCloud is a cloud-based SaaS company, employing over 100 people in our Bangkok, Belfast, LA, Charlotte and London hubs.
At ScreenCloud, we’re hard at work helping businesses to make stronger connections at scale, and with those who are most important to them; their employees & their customers. By using the screens on their walls & the content in their systems, we enable the sales, productivity & engagement that keep our customers’ businesses thriving.
We believe AI is reshaping how we work. The playbook is still being written, and we find that exciting. We're building a company where AI empowers every team member to have outsized impact and we're looking for people who share that vision.
We’re very proud of our product and we’re also incredibly proud of our people. It’s our ‘ScreenClouders’ and the culture they nurture that will take us where other companies just can’t go. So if you’re someone looking to join a team of talented individuals, apply below!
The Role:
We're looking for a Director of Data Engineering to own ScreenCloud's commercial data platform, reporting to the VP of Engineering and based in our Bangkok hub.
This is a role with a very clear customer: our Revenue Operations team. RevOps is the engine powering the commercial side of ScreenCloud, and the data engineering team is the fuel line into it. Requests from Sales, Customer Success, Finance and other commercial teams flow through RevOps; your job — hand in hand with the Director of RevOps — is to design and deliver the data roadmap that answers them: how we segment a large global customer base, how we understand and improve net revenue retention (NRR), and how we forecast with confidence.
Your number one priority in the first year is rock-solid financials: a commercial data layer the business trusts completely, that lets us see the nuance inside our customer base, spot trends early, and forecast accurately.
The second mission is AI. We believe the output of AI is only ever as good as the data behind it, and a clean, well-governed, well-modelled data layer is the foundation for enabling AI across the whole business. Data has to go further than AI — this role drives that. You'll sit in Bangkok alongside our engineering teams doing the most AI-forward work in the company, with our ops teams on hand, and a staff engineer on your own team who is deep into AI and ready to build with you.
It's a genuine half-and-half role: half leader — setting direction, building the roadmap with RevOps, presenting plans you're proud of to the CFO, CRO and beyond, and giving the business confidence that data is on a great trajectory — and half practitioner, with a real data engineering background, working daily with your team of two (a Staff Engineer in Bangkok and a Senior Engineer in London).
A note on time zones: our RevOps and commercial teams are in London. Making this relationship work is non-negotiable — you'll need a couple of hours of daily overlap with London (think roughly 10:00–18:00 Bangkok, not 8:00–16:00), and the drive to make yourself a core part of that group despite the distance. If London doesn't see you as one of their own, this role doesn't work.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Director of RevOps as your primary customer and counterpart: together, own a commercial data roadmap for the business — customer segmentation, NRR insight, retention and expansion analysis, and accurate forecasting.
Deliver rock-solid financials. Own the accuracy, timeliness and trustworthiness of our recurring-revenue and financial data — this is the first-year priority against which everything else is judged.
Lead and grow the data engineering team (a Staff Engineer in Bangkok and a Senior Engineer in London): set clear direction, priorities and standards, coach and develop, and stay close enough to the work to review and contribute.
Own the commercial data platform end-to-end: our Redshift warehouse, self-built ETL pipelines, and third-party sync tooling (e.g. Hightouch), including build-vs-buy decisions across the stack.
Bring our data sources together into sources of truth: billing and recurring payments, CRM, product usage, and the wealth of customer conversation data in Intercom/Fin — combined so the business gets insights no single source can give.
Drive the separation of commercial and product data: financial/commercial reporting on the warehouse, event-driven product analytics moving to PostHog — with a clear architecture for where each lives and how they join up.
Own the BI layer and the foundation beneath it: lead the consolidation from Tableau to Power BI, and set standards for definitions and metrics so there's one answer to every question. RevOps' Data Analyst does the heavy lifting on report building — your team provides the clean, accurate foundation that makes that possible, and pitches in on reports where it helps (there's no hands-off rule). Longer term, drive towards AI-powered self-serve reporting across the company — potentially bypassing traditional BI tools altogether.
Build the data foundation for AI: governance, access, hygiene, documentation and modelling that make our data genuinely AI-ready — then partner with our AI-forward engineering teams in Bangkok to put it to work across the business.
Present and persuade: drive a room, bring a plan you're proud of, and represent data confidently with senior stakeholders — the Director of RevOps day-to-day, and the CFO and CRO as the roadmap demands.
Champion data quality and governance: ownership, lineage, definitions, access controls and hygiene, so trust in the numbers is never the bottleneck.
Requirements:
Proven experience leading a data engineering or analytics engineering function — hiring, coaching and directing engineers while staying technically credible and hands-on where it counts.
Willingness to shift your working day (roughly 10:00–18:00 Bangkok) to guarantee daily overlap with London, and the relationship-building instincts to be seen as a core member of the commercial group from afar.
Excellent English, spoken and written. This is not a heads-down, written-only role: you'll be on calls with teams in the UK often, working together, presenting plans and getting complex, nuanced ideas across — so you need real fluency and the confidence to speak up regularly.
A strong data engineering background: warehouses (Redshift or similar — Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks), ETL/ELT pipeline design, data modelling, and the judgement to choose between building and buying.
Deep familiarity with SaaS commercial data: ARR/MRR, NRR, churn and expansion, cohorting and segmentation — you understand what a CFO and CRO need from the numbers and why the nuance matters.
Experience serving commercial stakeholders (RevOps, Finance, Sales, CS) as customers of a data team, and translating their questions into data products and a prioritised roadmap.
Strong experience with BI tooling (Power BI and/or Tableau) and with establishing metric definitions and sources of truth across a business.
Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to drive a room, defend a plan, and give both your team and the wider business confidence in the direction.
A genuine conviction that clean, well-governed data is the foundation of AI in a business, and hands-on curiosity about AI tooling (we use Claude Code and ChatGPT as standard — tooling will never be your limitation here).
Bonus Skills
Hands-on AWS experience — we're fully an AWS company, with best-in-class vendors (Vercel and friends) around it.
Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks, and with reverse-ETL tools like Hightouch.
Familiarity with event-driven product analytics platforms such as PostHog, Amplitude or Mixpanel.
Experience making CRM and customer-conversation data (e.g. Intercom/Fin) usable for analytics and AI.
Experience building semantic layers, metrics stores, or AI/LLM-ready data foundations (RAG pipelines, agent access to warehouse data, etc.).
Time spent in or alongside a RevOps function, or in a role owning revenue analytics at a SaaS company.
Experience leading distributed teams across time zones.
